Sometimes You Just Need a Mimosa While The Kids Play…
Are you out running errands in OKC and need a place to take your kiddos to let them run out some energy? Maybe you need a pick me up snack, but are tired of having nuggets and fries?!
Well look no further, OKC Play Cafe is the perfect answer! Â
Owner Liz Howald, brings you a safe place to let your kids play while you enjoy a coffee, tea, beer, wine, mocktails, and seasonal cocktails! The menu is full of nutritous options to fill your kids bellies too. Nothing fried, just healthy and scrumptious real food and a few treats!
I love that they have gluten free options available for my kiddo. She loves a good grilled cheese sandwich but can never indulge in one out and about. She was really excited about this one! She got a regular kids grilled cheese and I got the grown up grilled cheese, but with my fig jam on the side! {I had to try it in case I didnt like fig jam!}Â
I of course also got a mimosa, because its always a win, right?! Â
Bug got a hot caramel chocolate and devoured it quickly. They were even careful to not make it boiling hot so she was able to drink it right away. Â
They even had some delicious gluten free cookies from Big Buns Bakery!
To use the play area, either with your child, or letting them play on their own; there is a small fee.Â
$5/1 Child; $7/2 Children $9/3+ Children
Now about that play room!  They have taken care to bring in a well stocked selection of Montessori-inspired toys and books. The fee helps cover the Play Zone Attendants, cleaning and sanitizing, and replacing any broken toys.
Outside you will find an enclosed back patio that offers several shaded areas and fun areas for the kids to run around and explore. Â
They even have a special events room that is available to rent. Â
While my kiddo is a bit too old for the play zone; we are very excited about this new venue and can’t wait to return for all the big plans that Liz has in store for Play Cafe. I was able to speak with Liz about her plans and I’m so excited about all that she is planning. Â
She is planning on “hosting a number of recurring workshops each month, both for kids and grownups”. Examples include: Â

*Interactive Story Time with Storyteller Theatre
*Homeschool Social Hour
*Sensory Playdates with Homegrown Learning Company
*Tuesday Tinker Times
*Character Story Times with Project Princess

As we homeschool, I was most excited about that aspect and so asked for more details. Â
During the Homeschool Social Hour, home-schooling families can meet, socialize, and play.  She is hoping to set up a monthly homeschool lesson that will be led by a local subject expert. “The event space, when not being used for events, can be used for teaching/learning, as well as using any of the cafe tables. They have a closet full of books and other learning resources that patrons can borrow while at the cafe.” Â
