The Jones Assembly
Date Night in OKC…..sometimes it is hard to know where to go or what to do when you get to go out for a date night with the significant other. Â
We tend to do alot of movies and dinner, but this time we wanted something different. Â
We decided to go check out The Jones Assembly on the Historic Film Row downtown OKC. Â
Ya’ll we spent 4 HOURS there! We took our time and went to all the different areas and just slowly enjoyed our evening.
We got there at 4pm, and since the dining room wasnt open until 5pm we went and set out on downstairs patio.Â
Â
From 4-5 we sat out on the patio and enjoyed our cocktails and got to talk to one of the waitresses’ Cameron and she filled us in on what all they do at Jones Assembly and how they do the live concerts. Â
This place is huge, and for a great reason. They have a stage inside the dining room and when they have bands come play they open up garage doors to the outside patio, and let people flow in and out to watch the live performances. Here are some of the upcoming events.
Before 5pm, drinks and some food options are available such as their appetizers, pizzas, and burgers.Â
We decided to test out their fried okra along with our drinks. It was divine! Their special sauce was perfecty paired with their fried okra. Â
I also highly recommend that you try their Frose’. It was a delicious cocktail to start the evening….you wont be dissapointed! Â
The bar is fully stocked and a beauty to look at. I love their industrial chic look that they have going on here. Â
I love all the design elements from the seating to the lighting!
Around 5 we went into the dining room and were greeted by our waiter, Stewart, who happens to look alot like Channing Tatum….still think we should have asked for his autograph! ha
Stewart was very friendly, helpful, and attentive to the hubs and I. He recommended dishes to us, and told us about the history of the building. Â
The history of the building is pretty amazing. It was the site of the Ford Assembly line. I love when building can be repurposed. Â
The hubs ordered the Steak and Frites which was absolutely delicious. We both loved it especially with their special sauce. Â
I wanted to branch out of my norm and try something new so I ordered the Sugo. This was a creamy pasta dish that had a braised pork ragu that sounded absolutely delicious when the waiters were telling me about it. Â
So I tried it. It was nice falvoring and I really wanted to love it, but because of the soft texture I wasnt enjoying it. I wish I would have thought to ask for some garlic bread to go with it. But I didnt think about it. Â
However, Stewart could see that I wasnt 100% happy with it, and he took it away and brought me a cheeseburger because they want everyone to be very happy with what they order. I wasnt charged for the pasta and was only charged the price of the burger. If that isnt some great customer service, I dont know what is!Â
I did not take a photo of my cheeseburger because I devoured it before I got the chance to take a proper photo. woops! The burgers are delicious though! Â
One of the things that Stewart had told us about was that upstairs there is a special area called the T Room. Â
This is a speakeasy style bar with specialty drinks that arent available downstairs. Â
So of course we had to go check it out. We didnt plan to stay, but the bartender Hector won us over with his friendly banter and extensive knowledge. Â
Hector informed us that back during the prohibition they would go to these speakeasies and sneak their liqour in tea cups to avoid The Law.
I never knew they used teacups to get away with it! {It was a fun tidbit that I plan to store away for trivia later!}
We sat and talked with Hector about some of the bands that have played there before like Willie Nelson, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Andy Grammer, and soo many more that I cant even begin to remember. Â
We talked to Hector about different alcohols that they had there and just how many options they had in whiskey alone was amazing. Â
We talked about Gin….and just how much I hate it.  {Anyone else think it smells and tastes like band-aids?}
Then he informed me that there was multiple types of gin, including one that is botanical…that does not smell band-aids!  Â
Hector wanted to make me a classic prohibition style cocktail to win me over to Gin. Â
He made me a pretty pink drink, called the Clover Club. I was a little intimidated to see that it had egg whites in it, but it was delicious, and of course so pretty! Â
The hubs decided to try the Mother of Dragons drink. This was a fun drink to watch Hector prepare. Lots of smoke props needed for this one. It tastes about what you can imagine based on the name…its very smoky, but has a nice spicy tang to it. He loved it. Â
We didnt leave Jones Assembly until 8pm. We had such a nice night enjoying each others company, visitng with the staff about the restaurant and just enjoying the moments. Â
Jones Assembly is a little pricey but its definitely a wonderful experience. A hamburger there with a side of fries was $14. The steak with fries was $28. I posted the menu with their prices if you want to take a closer look!
Make sure to check out their live bands, but also make sure to go on a weeknight and enjoy the ambience and your dinner. Â
Whats your favorite date night look like?
