What to Expect When You’re Getting Eyelash Extensions at Deka Lash

This blog post is here to help you navigate your first appointment. If you, are anything like me, going and doing something new for the first time can give you a bit of anxiety. The unknown tends to overwhelm me. I like to know what to expect. {I read all the “What to Expect When You’re Expecting…books}
Setting Up the Appointment
First, you need to set up your appointment. Thats as easy as clicking this link! Choose your service, be sure to use my discount code of 15% off {JACLYN15} and then enter your CC info to secure your appointment. (Note: You will not be charged at the time of booking.)
So what service do you choose? Eyelash extensions at Deka Lash are all done with care. The biggest choice you have to make is the amount of drama in your lashes that you crave.
Classic, Volume, Hybrid, or Express?
How do you decide and what is the difference?
Classic: A more natural look and fill with length.
Volume: Lots of umph and fluff.
Hybrid: A beautiful mix of natural and volume together.
Express: A quicker more natural look. Like having fluffy mascara on. {only $79}
Things to Know Beforehand:
So you have your appointment booked, now what?
- You will need to keep your lashes free of cleanser, sweat, and water for at least 24 hrs after application.
- If you wear contacts, it is HIGHLY recommended that you take them out for the application.
- Go in eyemakeup free!
- Be prepared to take a nap or listen to an audiobook via headphones!
- Don’t drink a ton of liquids before going in! (No Potty Breaks! ha)
- You will have your eyes closed anywhere from 1-2 hrs depending on the look you choose. (Express is under an hr)
Appointment Time
Arrive on time for your appointment! These lash artists work hard and need the breaks in between clients. Speaking of these amazing eyelash extension artists, be sure to tip them for their amazing handiwork! If you are getting a full set, a $20-30 tip is appreciated. Just getting a fill, or perhaps a Express set? A $10-$20 tip is recommended.
When you arrive, you will check in and sign a waiver about before and after pictures, if you approve.
A last check to use the restroom and then you will sit down with your Deka Lash artist and discuss the look you are going for.
Then, just lay back and enjoy the pampering. My lash babe assured me that napping was fine, and encouraged me to totally relax and enjoy a nice nap.
They begin by taping down the bottom lashes. I know, it sounds nuts. But its really not bothersome at all. They will then cleanse your lashes and begin.
The hardest part? Laying there and keeping my eyes closed. I thought that the 2 hours that I was there was going to DRAGGGGGGG. However, what felt like maybe 20 minutes ended up being 2 full hours. Im thinking I had to have dozed off! haha
Is it Painful?
Eyelash extensions at Deka Lash are not painful. The adhesive does have some fumes that irritated my eyes, but it wasnt bad at all. They were red and stingy for about an hour after getting my lashes, but that in part is probably due to the fact that I did wear my contacts during my appointment.
My artist, Angie, did an amazing job of keeping me comfortable and helping me figure out exactly what I wanted and customizing my lashes from there. We did a hybrid mix of classic cateye and wispy volume.
Care & Maintenance
So you got the lashes and you want to make them last?
Some simple after care is recommended to maintain the life of your lashes:
Wait the minimum 24 hours, and then wash lashes daily with lash cleanser. Gentle sweeping motions, no rubbing!
Fills are recommended every 2-3 weeks. These appointments take anywhere from 30min-1hr.
To get the most Volume for your cash; Deka Lash offers memberships. The memberships save you money and provide you with 2 monthly fills, and 10% off all products. Services can roll over to the next month if you cant or dont need one that month. Usable at ALL stuido locations!
